Ben Kotlowitz and his team undertook the transformation of Hamilton House, an unremarkable three-storey warehouse that had been standing since the 1950s. Optimising the building’s space potential, two steel-framed storeys were added, providing an additional 2,500 square meters of floor space. In addition, parking was efficiently created by utilising two existing levels, and a retail component was introduced along the street edges. The highlight of the renovation is the triple-storey skylit atrium, partially outdoor, which connects the spacious office area and offers impressive views of the V&A Waterfront. This renovation served as a successful catalyst for the redevelopment of the entire city precinct, showcasing the positive ripple effect of considered, timeless architecture.
